On November 22nd, 2014 Mountain Meitheal South East completed it’s second project – the restoration of a section of trail leading to Lough Curra in the Galtee mountains. The trail runs between a stand of Larch and an old loose stone wall which had to be left untouched. These restrictions posed problems for water management which was solved by digging a side drain the length of the trail and constructing a new durable sloped surface so that the rainwater ran into the drain. The project was organised in partnership with Coillte who also kindly supplied the materials. Many thanks to all the volunteers who gave up their time and energies to produce this excellent example trail work.
